Artificial Intelligence is changing how Finance professionals interact with enterprise systems, but what does that mean for SAP Controlling today? While the potential of AI is significant, understanding the capabilities available now—and separating them from what is still emerging—is essential.
This session provides a practical introduction to SAP Joule and SAP Business AI specifically for Finance and Controlling professionals. Designed for attendees who may be new to AI, the session explains foundational AI concepts, how foundation models support generative AI, and how SAP combines these technologies with business context, security, and SAP applications through Joule.
Rather than positioning Joule as an autonomous financial analyst, the session focuses on practical ways Controllers can use its conversational and navigational capabilities to interact more naturally with SAP. Examples include asking Joule where and how to access the Cost Centers Review Booklet, finding cost center master-data applications, locating cost center and functional-area information, identifying the appropriate starting point for plan/actual reporting, and finding relevant SAP Help and process guidance.
The session also looks ahead to Joule Studio and the emerging role of customer-specific, governed AI agents, while clearly distinguishing future possibilities from capabilities available today.
Attendees will learn:
- What SAP Joule is—and what it is not
- The fundamentals of generative AI and foundation models in the context of SAP Business AI
- How Joule provides a conversational interface between business users and supported SAP applications and content
- Practical examples of using Joule to find Controlling applications, reports, master-data functions, and SAP guidance
- Where Joule’s capabilities stand today and how Joule Studio and AI agents may expand the Controller experience over time
Attendees will leave with a realistic understanding of Joule’s current role in Controlling, where it can add value today, and how to evaluate emerging SAP Business AI capabilities without confusing today’s functionality with tomorrow’s vision.
